Dr. Abbey Salvas presents at the 2025 SIOP Conference
Dr. Salvas offers insights on topics related to LGBTQ+ experiences at work
Denver, April 2, 2025 - At the 40th Annual Conference for the Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology (SIOP), idealis' Research Lead, Dr. Abbey Salvas, presented cutting-edge research on the experiences of LGBTQ+ workers in the workplace.
Abbey presented at three sessions at SIOP's annual conference, including sharing findings from their dissertation on experiences of authenticity for trans and non-binary employees at work. They also provided their expertise in a discussion on how we can think more inclusively about gender in careers research. Further, they facilitated a conversation among early career practitioners on being queer at work and navigating a turbulent environment.
"I am passionate about using my voice to share not only research but practical insights into how to make work better for everyone, especially those most marginalized," said Dr. Abbey Salvas of idealis. "Through discussing my research and experiences, I hope to shed a light on not only the challenges but the joys that can come from being authentically you at work."
From being an advocate for authentic LGBTQ+ expression at work to pushing the boundaries of gendered career research and co-leading conversations on queer early career experiences, Abbey offers thoughtful, human-centered research that enables workforces and workplaces to be more inclusive and productive.
