Workforce Gains in Engagement, Trust, and Optimism, But Equity Gaps Persist
Amid a backdrop of increasing economic sentiment, the July 2025 Pulse of the U.S. Workforce points to building momentum in employee workplace connection and engagement.
Key bright spots include:
- Belonging at a 6-month high: 69% of the U.S. workforce feels a sense of belonging to the company they work for.
- Engagement gains: 66% of employees report often or always feeling engaged at work, a 3pp increase since last month.
However, the data also highlights stubborn divides that organizations must address:
- Equity gap in happiness: 76% of white employees report being happy in their jobs compared with only 64% of non-white employees, a widening disparity.
- Income and candor divide: 82% of workers earning over $100k feel comfortable voicing opinions on their team, versus 74% below $100k.
The July findings point to a workforce that is gaining momentum with belonging, engagement, trust, and optimism all on the rise. These data points speak to an increase in worker energy that companies can harness into performance and retention. At the same time, the report highlights widening equity gaps by race, income, and other factors. These divides aren’t just statistics, they’re signs leaders must act on if they want to sustain progress across the workforce.
